- Biography
- Professor Masanori Hatakeyama graduated from the School of Medicine, Hokkaido University (M.D.) in 1981 and obtained a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Medicine, Hokkaido University (1986). He then became Assistant Professor at Osaka University (1986-1991) and finished his postdoctoral studies in molecular oncology at the Whitehead Institute, MIT, Boston (1991-1994). Since 2009, Dr. Hatakeyama has been professor at the Department of Microbiology, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo. Before his current appointment, he was a member and Chief at the Cancer Institute, Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research, Tokyo (1995-1999) and the Professor at the Institute of Genetic Medicine, Hokkaido university (1999-2009). His current research interest is the molecular mechanisms underlying bacterial carcinogenesis.
